So, I had a concert recap halfway typed-up and just sitting in this box for ages, but... Whatever. You guys weren't that interested in reading it, right? Right! No one reads concert recaps, anyway. And if you did want to read a summation of my experience, head over to [livejournal.com profile] chaoticallyclev's abode, who will tell you all about it. Basically: Black Gold were awesome and adorable. TYV were fine as well. Rooney ripped it up. And then we left. Go see them! :D?

Um, anyway. The real reason of this post was to explicate my capture and subsequent conversion to the dark side. (Did I use that word correctly? Who cares, I just wanted to use it. om nom nom big words.) So. THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, man. Who knew they had such a strong grip? My, what big teeth you have, Grandma. I spent my entire morning swanning around and staring at TVD icons. Ostensibly, it was to actually grab some, but I kind of got caught up in just...ogling. Oops.

But I did abscond with a few, as you may have seen from my icon for this entry! LOLOL Ian Somerhalder. He looks so...I can't even describe it. I just look at this picture and start laughing. And maybe, in my room alone where no one can see me, whisper "Easy, breezy, beautiful. COVERGIRL." Um. But pretty much every time I see a picture of him, I just start cracking up. He makes the most ridiculous faces! It's like Brendon, only...twice his age and sexier. (sorry, babe.)

Even his ~~serious pictures are hilarious. Smolder at me more, yeah, that's it. >;)

BUT LET ME BLATHER AT YOU ABOUT HIS SHOW. Because that is the important part. This fucking show, guys. The pilot fucking sucked like a black hole. But after that, it gained a surprising amount of momentum, and I am really, depressingly hooked. LET ME TELL YOU WHY.

Some cool fucking awesome things about TVD:

1. There are CANONICAL, INCESTUOUS threesomes. (no lie. CW, I love you.)

2. A large portion of it takes place in ~~emo flashbacks to the CIVIL WAR ERA. There are period costumes! There are devastatingly anachronistic turns of phrase! Everything is so bad it's delicious.

3. Ian Somerhalder is in it.

4. There are STRONG WOMEN. I could cry I am so happy. The original crazy vampire, Katherine, had all the control over the Salvatore brothers (Damon and Stefan, played by Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley of the Strong Chin). And okay, their relationship could have used a little more Dr. Phil and a little less mind control, but still--! A dominant female in the relationship! Somebody hold me.
Almost every woman on the show is kickass. The female sheriff (how much do I love that? A WHOLE FUCKING LOT. Plus she's a MILF. I feel like I've gotten off-track)! Anna and her mom, Pearl! Bonnie and her grandmother! ELENA, the main protagonist. (Okay, at this point, I'm going to refer you to TVD's wiki because explaining is kind of getting in the way of my squee. /o\)

*Reading this over, I think I should probably disclaim that TVD is in no way the holy grail of female empowerment, or whatever the fuck. It has issues! It definitely has issues. But it's a hell of a lot better than most other TV shows out there.

5. I've mentioned Bonnie, right? She is a totally fucking AWESOME poc who plays not only Elena's token black best friend, but also a really well-developed individual character of her own. She's a crazy-powerful witch, and she's SO INDEPENDENT. I pretty much have the biggest crush on her ever. She marches to the beat of her own drum, not anyone else's--not even Elena's. And she takes no prisoners.

6. At one point--SPOILERS AHEAD. I feel like I should have said that earlier in this post--Elena locks her boyfriend up in a DUNGEON to force him to detox. Have I mentioned strong women yet? God, I love this show.

8. Umm...yeah, that's pretty much it. HERE, HAVE SOME PICTURES OF THE SMOKING HOT CAST.

The unbelievably gorgeous Nina Dobrev, playing Elena Gilbert. I don't even know what she's wearing in this picture, but it probably speaks volumes that I still want to lick her.

THIS IS WHAT I MEAN ABOUT EVERY SINGLE PICTURE OF IAN SOMERHALDER BEING HILARIOUS. I kind of want to go up to this photographer and shake his hand.

Um. I don't actually find Paul Wesley (he plays Stefan Salvatore) all that attractive. It's the chin. YMMV.

Moving on!

Here is the amazing Katerina Graham, who plays Bonnie on the show! THIS GIRL, oh my god. She appeared in Justin Bieber's music video, did you know that? I can't even...I have about twenty conflicting emotions whenever I remember that, and I think I'm just going to go with SO. AWESOME. \o/

OKAY WOW THAT WAS KIND OF LONG. Anyway all you really need to know is that this show is awesome and you should watch it! (and then write me fic.) :D

Now I just need to wait until [livejournal.com profile] chaoticallyclev comes home so I can kidnap her and forcefeed TVD to her. >:DDD

hmm... I'm warning you now. We know how poorly trying to crossover our tv interests goes. (I know, my fault. I just don't seem to like anything ever. My poor grandmother tried to find any movies I would like and I had to tell her that i would much rather watch the news with her husband. yeah. I was behind, okay?)

ahaha, that first actress... she was in something I've seen. i think it was Spectacular on teennick or something. definitely seen her.

ops, got to go eat. i'll probably continue this later.

Okay, WHAT. The only time we have ever reeeeally clashed is over Community. (Because you suck.) We both like Bones! We both like Dancing with the Stars! We both like Merlin (the first season)! AND THE VAMPIRE DIARIES IS ACTUALLY QUITE GOOD, so there. >:(

isn't she pretty?? like, really unfairly pretty.

I'm not saying we clach, i'm just saying I don't really care (re: merlin. I didn't really like it, i was just excited about it fannishly. I found the 1st season rather blah until the second season made it look better. but I'm also a sucker for medieval stuff so i halfway liked it just because of that.)

And technically we don't clash over community, i just don't care about it. and i didn't watch tv for most of the time it was on. tv and i have a pretty lukewarm relationship. I only really like gilmore girls. and charmed. for specific seasons. and probably other stuff but I'm just saying. Actually, I don't know what I'm saying. My ears are still popped from the trip. And we stopped in another casino on the way back. this one smelled less like smoke and the machines were more fun. but we would have been home by 8 if it weren't for that stop.

sorry, that was bugging me that i didn't remember.

Good news though is that this sounds kind of interesting. so you might be able to get me to watch it. :D

yes i gambled. and was horribly bored the whole time. well, the first time. the second was a little better because there was this enchanted forest game and i kept getting the bonus and getting to play little games. so, that was kind of fun. But only because it was my parents money. so technically, i made money by going to the casino. but, as i suspect they won't fund any future trips, there probably won't be any future trips. My parents actually seemed very insistent on spending money for/on me this trip. it was weird. i have a lot of new clothes and jewelry, we went to a play at the Old Globe Theater which is fantastic and the seats were amazing (but there isn't really a bad seat there) and this was my father's idea. and he's like "let's get souveneirs" and "are you sure you don't want to go to disneyland, too?"

I'm actually kind of freaked out about this. it's abnormal.
