to save the world

So, I know this is getting pimped out pretty much everywhere, but I thought I would put a little mention of it here, as well, so as to further inflate my already engorged sense of self-importance. :D!

The Adam Lambert charity challenge!

This is a really great cause, for srs. You get to choose which project to give to (they're all involved with giving arts opportunities to kids in high poverty districts), and what amount. So, you know. If you have a dollar to spare, please give! :)

PLUS, there is a fic/art auction going on, too, where you bid on fic/art, and that money goes to the charity, while you are rewarded with beautiful expressions of fannish creativity. It's a win/win situation! Fandoms involved aren't restricted to AI rps, either. And the authors/artists participating are incredibly talented. [livejournal.com profile] astolat, anyone?

Also! Also I have so many fic recs for your glowing faces, flist. I am pretty much late on all of them, but that is okay, because I am chronically unpunctual and I have learned to accept that.

This is such a gorgeous story! Layers of metaphors and symbolism, and wow, I could just roll around in it all day. Why can't we have dissected this story in English, seriously?
Summary: In the aftermath of Merlin's battle against Nimueh, the rain seems a minor complication, perhaps even a cleansing influence. When the rain doesn't stop, Camelot is pushed to the brink once more. This time, Arthur may be in over his head. (It sounds intriguing, doesn't it? It IS. Read it!)

In Want of a Wife by [livejournal.com profile] syllic
SO. This is an arranged marriage fic, yes, but it is also so, so much more than that! It's really intricate, and I am so impressed with the ability of the author to play with different perspectives while staying within Merlin's POV. It's beautiful, and thought-provoking, and just, really well-written. Also, the ending is not obvious at all. And if none of that enticed you to read it, there's a bunch of gleeful, worthy-of-fangirl-squee Merlin/Author interaction in it as well.
Summary: When Merlin first hears that Arthur has been betrothed, his ribs pull inwards with an odd little hitch, and he only allows himself a second—which he needs in order to coordinate spinning in place without falling on his face—before he’s running to Arthur’s chambers.

Yaaay, old-school H/D! Noooo, [livejournal.com profile] piecesof_reeses is slipping back into her old hp crack habit! Well, I never said I was a strong person, okay. Before you know it, I'll be back to reading Tom Riddle/Hermione. Yeah. I know. Um, anyway. This fic is really good! Also really old and apparently really well-known? idk. It's twisty, and there's a lot of H/D tension, so I'm happy! \o/
Summary: In Harry's sixth year at Hogwarts, he must face the consequences of the attack on the Department of Mysteries and the effects of Voldemort's return. And in doing so, he finds that even your enemies can teach you valuable lessons - about the world, and about yourself.

Ooh, ooh, also, while I'm at it (that is, in my hp relapse), read this:

SO AMAZING. She's a NEW H/D author, can you believe it? Like finding a diamond in the rough, wow. This is the oldest of old-school HD, by which I mean, THE BEST KIND. They're back at Hogwarts! They're silly! They're...well, to be frank, they're quite lustful. And I'm sure you're all fine with that. ;)
Summary: So what if Draco has a rain kink? Everyone likes something weird.

ALSO READ EVERYTHING ELSE BY HER. INCLUDING REPARATIONS AND FOUNDATIONS. Best afternoon you'll ever spend.

Hmm, this is getting to be a monster entry. I'm assuming you have all read [livejournal.com profile] arsenicjade's latest? She cowrote a story with [livejournal.com profile] untappedbeauty, and yes, it is as amazing as you are no doubt currently imagining. If by chance you have been under an anvil and unable to check the internet before now, and so have not read this fic yet, GO DO SO IMMEDIATELY. It's long and so satisfying.

Finally, I want to take a moment to blush splotchily and thank everyone who is still hanging around for the amazing reception of my latest story! Really. The comments were so awesome and glee-making! You guys made my week, honestly. :')

Oh, wait, no, I almost forgot. I have a picture to show you all! I personally am developing a huge crush on that pretty, pretty girl on the left.

It seriously took me the longest time to realize who that was. Bradley James, you've been holding out on us! Prince Arthur would look lovely in drag. I must write the producers of Merlin immediately. It's a great idea! I mean, they've already fucked with the original legend so much, what's a little more fuckery, right? :D Whatever, I'm a genius, and you know it.
